AKA: Brain Stem
Makes snap judgement about everybody around you. has four categories for people:
- friend
- predator
- potential sexual partner
- indifferent
then the neocortex tries to find data that proves the brain stem's theory.
Humans are designed to be indifferent to each other by default. So we should try to act inauthentic, act more interested to others.
1. Friend Cateogry Signals
Smile Should take 3 seconds to develop and take about 3 seconds to fade. Otherwise the brain will judge it negative i.e. predator.
- Build smile
- Get eye contact
- then people smile back
This is universal signal for I recognize you, you are friend and family.
- Empty handed : No tools, no weapons = implies the other person is not afraid of you. This gives message of being Honest, Truthful.
